St. Pete Fire reminding residents to check smoke alarms

-

Fire Departments across the country, in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association, are using this bi-annual event to remind everyone to change the batteries in all smoke alarms in your home.

Here are some helpful tips to remember:

- Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home.

-Test alarms each month by pushing the test button.

-Make sure everyone  in the home knows the sound and understands what to do when they hear the smoke alarm.

If you need a smoke alarm, you can contact the St. Pete Fire Department at 727-893-SAFE (7233).

If you are a resident of St. Pete, they will come to your home and install smoke alarms, free of charge.
