Target stores go silent to honor employees killed in Orlando shooting

Target stores across the country are going silent on Tuesday in remembrance of two employees killed in the shootings at Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Mercedez Marisol Flores, 26, worked at an Orlando area Target while attending community college. Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo, 20, worked at a Starbucks inside of a Target store in Kissimmee, Fla. while studying theater. His sister told the Associated Press he would have been auditioning for a play on Tuesday.

A third employee who works at an in-store coffee shop was in critical condition. Their name was not released.

"Like millions of Americans, the Target team is mourning the horrific violence that took place in Orlando over the weekend,” Target said in a company statement Monday. “Sadly, we confirmed this morning that two of our team members were tragically killed in the attack. Since that time, we have been in contact with their families to offer our heartfelt condolences and have brought in onsite counseling resources for our team.”
