Dozens of cats found living in car

- Authorities found 38 cats living inside a mother and daughter's minivan, with the two women possibly living in the van with their pets.

Sandy Springs police said a concerned citizen flagged down police and informed officers of a van with a number of cats.

"We went through trash for the cats, digging on our hands and knees," said Tim Poorman of Fulton County Animal Control, who had to search through the filth for felines.

He even found tiny, days-old kittens inside a cup holder, and some cats in the dashboard.

Police learned of warrants out for their arrest. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said the women faced another charge of animal cruelty for a March incident where 20 cats were found in their Dunwoody home. The women also violated their probation by owning animals.

In fall 2014, FOX 5 told you how authorities searched through trash and filth in their Dunwoody home on Atcheson Lane, to rescue 70 cats. The women were arrested for animal cruelty.

Despite living in a car, the 38 cats will eventually be adoptable after veterinary care through the Fulton County Animal Shelter.

LifeLine Animal Project, which manages Fulton County Animal Services, said 34 of the cats are ready to be adopted. If you're interested in adopting the cats, contact or call 404-613-0357.  LifeLine Animal Project said they are grateful to the citizen who reported this, and that if you see cruelty, you should report it to 404-613-0358 in Fulton County and 404-294-2939 in DeKalb County.
