Single mother misses class, professor's response goes viral

Morgan King is a full-time student at the University of Tennessee, and works when she’s not in school. On top of that, she has the hardest job of all -- she’s a mother.

Recently she was unable to find someone to watch her three-month-old daughter, Korbyn, and emailed her professor that she couldn’t make it to her human development class. The response was so touching, Not only was she understanding, but she invited her to bring the baby. Morgan felt obliged to share it with the rest of the world on twitter and has since gone viral.

Professor Sally Hunter wrote, “If you are having trouble finding someone to watch Korbyn, please feel free to just BRING HER with you to class. I would be absolutely delighted to hold her while I teach, so that you can still pay attention to the class and take notes. I work for the Department of CHILD and FAMILY

Studies so how terrible would it be, if I was unwilling to have a child visit our class? I’m very serious with this offer.”

According to, Professor Hunter marked her absence as “excused”, and also asked to know if there were any other ways she could help support her.

The response not only made Morgan’s day -- it’s a lesson in kindness for us all.

Watch the video to see why the professor deserves an A+.
