Thousands gather dogs to marry in Hindu tradition

Thousands gathered in Pawara Village on Friday to witness a "big fat dog wedding."

The groom, Shagun, asked the bride, Shagunia, for her "paw" in marriage.

Both pooches were bathed and dressed for the special occasion, as the families prepared an elaborate meal of Indian delicacies.

A procession of over 5,000 people danced in the streets as they followed the bride and groom to the ceremony.

As part of the Hindu tradition, the dog owners wrapped a garland of flowers on their future family member. Revelers cheered and took pictures of the newly married couple.
