Mother, daughter make care packages for homeless

- A little girl's mission to help the less fortunate has turned into a mother-daughter labor of love.

The "Gabby Cares" duo - Kenya Lane and her daughter, Gabby - creates care packages for those less fortunate.

"Gabby Cares is a type of girl who helps the homeless and gives them tooth brushes, deodorant, and wipes," Gabby Lane explained.

She got this calling to help others last year when she was six.

"I have this feeling in my heart that's saying, 'Wow, they really need help we have to do something,'" Gabby said. "I want to do this because there's suffering. They are out on the streets and they have nothing to survive with."

"I think it is awesome. I think it's awesome that a child of her age came to her mom to want to help somebody else," Kenya said. "Gabby's message and her mission, honestly, is to try to touch and put a smile on children's faces."

Gabby does her good deeds all year long. She and her mother have delivered more than 200 bags to Bay Area charities.

Gabby says she loves going to local stores to buy the items - the first step in helping others have a better life.
