Lakeland home to national champion step group

- Katariiah Bryant has been stepping with the Taken By Surprise step team for four years.

"It's very nerve-racking," Katarliah said.

The Lakeland-based team was started by Corey Tumer in 2010.

"In the last three year we've won three national championships and we came runner-up in two," Corey said.

Tytiana Sykes believes the activity has helped her grow as a person.

"I can be myself on stage and allow me my personality to stand out and it really brought out a side of me I never knew that I had," Sykes explained.
