Company helps Metro Ministries help others

They may be simple necessities, but hygiene items are making a big difference to hundreds in need.

"We have razors, diapers, deodorant, shampoo, shower gel; every type of toiletry, including diapers, in all of these boxes," explained Heidi Damon of Spectra Contract Flooring.

Spectra Contract Flooring laid the groundwork for a community outreach to collect items for the nonprofit Metropolitan Ministries.

"We said, ‘Why leave that to somebody else? Let's partner up with our community business partners and see what we can do to help out those in need,’" said company president Stephen Busbee.

"We started this about three months ago and our vendors even pitched in, and we collected 2,601 items," continued Damon.

These kinds of products are so important to families at Metropolitan Ministries and often get overlooked.

"We run very, very low on hygiene products because it's such a small quantity. We get lots of food and clothing, but hygiene is very, very critical," offered Sonya Flores of Metropolitan Ministries.

Damon hopes that the collection of goods sends a bigger message.

"I really want them to have hope that they do have a future. That there are people out there who want them to succeed,” Damon added.
