TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - The team at Tampa General Hospital is celebrating 30 years of its Aeromed flights.
"Most of our patients are very critical, very ill and in need of a lot of attention, care and rapid transport and that's what they really serve best at," said Nurse Manager John Scott.
Aeromed started in1989 with one helicopter.
"We have now four established bases that we operate out of and operate a total of five aircraft," Scott said.
The air ambulance has a three-man team - a pilot, a nurse paramedic, and a paramedic. It is the only hospital-based Aeromedical program for adult patients in the Bay Area.
"We take pride in what we are doing and we like to think that we are doing it in a very safe manor also," Scott explained. "I am extremely proud of this service... I'm extremely proud to be a part of this hospital, extremely proud to be a part of this program."
