TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (FOX 13) - Tarpon Springs High School Band is making school history. They're just been invited to play at Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival in New York.
"It's really going to be an amazing experience and I really hope that we are going to basically be able to learn a lot more about the music that all of us love to play," said student musician Daniel Reichert.
Fifteen bands across the nation named finalists for the 24th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival.
"It's incredible. I think we all really excited to get to work with those professionals and just to learn from them in those three days," said student jazz singer Kaleen Barton.
Tarpon Springs High School was selected from 112 jazz bands across the country after submitting recordings of three tunes performed from the Jazz at Lincoln Center library.
"Getting feedback from their jazz superheroes," said Christopher De-leon Jazz Director. "I hope that it really affects their life an inspires them to move forward."
The event is from May 9 to the 11.
