TPD hosts community meetings after DOJ report

- The Tampa Police Department announced it will hold a series of community meetings to get feedback after the Department of Justice released its report regarding the department’s bicycle ticketing program.

The report found the department did not intend for the program to be discriminatory, but it was, ultimately, unfair and ineffective.

The forums were among 22 recommendations made by the DOJ.

The meetings will be held June 7 at HCC on Dale Mabry, June 8 at Spring Hill Park and June 9 at Middleton High School.

Times for the meetings had not been announced.

TPD also set up a website where people can respond to DOJ report and offer recommendations. Visit http://www.tampagov.net/police/doj-cops-report
