TRENTON, Fla. (FOX 13) - Residents of one Florida town woke up to an odd sight: Ice scattered across their roadways.
On Wednesday morning, Trenton city officials shared images of heavy ice on the roads after a hail storm. However, it looked more like a snowstorm with white patches of ice along streets.
Crews with bulldozers started clearing those roads, but still warned residents to drive with caution during the morning rush hour.
“These guys don’t get the recognition they deserve, out working in the wee hours of the morning in these bad conditions! Thank you Public Works crews!” according to the city of Trenton Public Safety Department’s Facebook page.
In Cocoa, ice came down in chunks in Ryan Osteen's backyard.
FOX 13’s meteorologist Dave Osterberg said there was a hail storm during the overnight hours.
Trenton is a city within Gilchrist County with roughly 2,000 residents. It’s about 30 miles west of Gainesville.
