Minnesota company designs gun that looks like smartphone
It looks like a cell phone, but it's really a gun.
A Minnesota company, Ideal Conceal, is developing a two-shot pistol that resembles a smartphone but unfolds as a double-barreled .380 caliber pistol with the click of the safety.
"Smartphones are everywhere, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today's environment," the company said on its website. "In its locked position, it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight."
Developer Kirk Kjellberg said he was tired of being singled out for being a concealed weapons carrier. He said the design of this gun is the same as other folding stock pistols. "America is divided on guns and there will always be and have always been critics," he told FOX 13. "It can't evade metal detection or x-rays or we wouldn't build it. It is simply an option to carry a concealed weapon without having to engage those same 'critics,'" he said.
The gun retails at $395 and the company is expected to release it in October.
