Polar bear cub opens its eyes for the first time

- The Berlin Zoo caught an adorable moment with its newest polar bear cub on camera.

Germany’s largest zoo released footage from its infrared cameras, showing the cub opening its eyes for the very first time as it rested with its mother, Tonja. She gave birth to the cub on December 1, and has nursed, cleaned and slept with her baby ever since.

The mother and cub are next expected to leave their enclosure until the spring time.

Zoo officials said they will continue to monitor the newborn very closely.
