Hernando County: Ian updates and emergency information

HERNANDO COUNTY CLOSINGS:

No closings have been reported yet.

HERNANDO COUNTY SHELTERS:

The following Hernando County School District sites will serve as shelters for residents. Shelters will open at 9 a.m.

Challenger K8: 13400 Elgin Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609. Those with special needs and their families only.

Explorer K8: 10252 Northcliffe Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34608. General population and pets.

HERNANDO COUNTY SANDBAGS:

Sandbag distribution locations are closed.

HERNANDO COUNTY EVACUATIONS:

Voluntary evacuations were recommended beginning Monday, September 26. Mandatory evacuations begin, Tuesday, September 27, beginning at 9 a.m. for all properties west of US Highway 19 – which is where Zones A, B and C are located. The order includes all mobile/modular homes and low-lying areas county-wide.

HERNANDO COUNTY SCHOOLS:

Hernando County schools will close Tuesday, Sept. 27. Schools and offices will remain closed through Friday, Sept. 30.

The Diocese of St. Petersburg ordered all Catholic Schools and Early Learning Centers to close from Tuesday, September 27 through Thursday, September 29. This includes Catholic schools in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties.

Pasco-Hernando State College is closing its campuses and its operations beginning Tuesday, Sept. 27 through Friday, Sept. 30.
