A little league football coach in the Fort Myers, Florida area has dedicated his career to helping kids.

Now, one of those kids is trying to return the favor.

Thomas Murphy's coach, Coach Dan, as he's known at the Lee County Hawks' football organization, was recently given six months to live.

Coach Dan suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.

For him to have the treatments that could save his life, he'll need a device that helps vessels pump blood and a heart transplant. For those, he needs $12,000.

That's the kind of money Thomas says Coach Dan shouldn't have to worry about.

So, with the help of his mom and the community, they're trying to raise money to help Coach Dan get back on the field.

They hope he can beat the six-month diagnosis.

So far, they've raised about $3,000 of the $12,000 goal
