Truck crash blocks Tampa-bound Howard Frankland traffic

A crash involving two tractor-trailers backed up traffic heading into Tampa on the Howard Frankland Bridge this morning.

Troopers say one northbound semi-truck collided with a second truck just east of the hump. Only one lane of northbound traffic was getting by on Interstate 275, and the ensuing backup stretched far back into Pinellas.

Cleanup took several hours because fuel from one of the trucks leaked onto the roadway.

The driver of one of the trucks was cited.
