Majority of Clearwater development board tied to Scientology

Despite concerns related to the Church of Scientology's original mission of what the FBI called "area control" in the 1970s, Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos says service on the Downtown Development Board should not be dependent on their religious affiliation.
