There have now been 500 homes built through the Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County.

The organization has been around since the 1980s, and will be dedicating their 500th home, which will benefit Laquinda Currie, a single mother with two sons, ages 9 and 14. Last year, the organization completed 60 homes.

Officials said it takes time to find affordable land to build on and builders must take into account the limited amount of space to build and flood zones. They describe Laquinda as a hard-worker and battles a few health issues, while also raising her children.
