Pet chicken named Sammi explores Florida with owner

JACKSONVILLE (FOX 13) - Sammi the chicken seems to be a proud Floridian.

The pet chicken lives in Destin, but travels all over the sunshine state with her owner, Dave Cox. He created an Instagram account showing her Florida adventures.

Sammi has visited the Florida State University, the Columbia restaurant in St. Augustine, and most recently, she took a dip at Jacksonville Beach. The video shows waves aiming for her, but Sammi doesn’t move away and seems to soak it all in.

Cox told News4Jax he got Sammi after his 17-year-old dog passed away. 

"I never knew that having a pet chicken as a companion would create the amount of attention and intrigue that it has," Cox said.
