UCF suspends fraternity amid sex assault and hazing claims

- A University of Central Florida fraternity has been suspended while the school investigates allegations of sexual assault and hazing.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Lambda Theta Phi Fraternity is barred from all campus activities following a spring party that got out of control. Numerous calls were made to UCF's hazing hotline, including reports of a fraternity member having sex with someone who was "severely mentally, physically incapacitated."

Lambda Theta Phi national executive director Jarrod Cruz emailed the Sentinel saying that the fraternity also is investigating. Members of the fraternity met with university officials Monday.

UCF put Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity on probation earlier this year after one of its members allegedly held an unloaded gun to the neck of a pledge in violation of the school's hazing policy.
