Brooksville woman, 87, dies in head-on collision

An 87-year-old woman died after crashing head-on with another vehicle in Brooksville, troopers say.

On Tuesday, before 9 p.m., Patricia Marlette was traveling in a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire heading north on Sunshine Grove Road while in a southbound lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A second vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Thomas Ray Tarulli, was traveling south in the same lane when both vehicles collided near Webster Street.

Troopers say Marlette passed away at the scene. Tarulli was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital with serious injuries. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

It’s unclear why Marlette may have been driving in the wrong direction.
