Construction for on-campus Publix begins at USF
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Construction begins for the long-awaited on-campus Publix at the University of South Florida.
Students will be able to get groceries without leaving the Tampa campus, which will be located at Fletcher Avenue and USF Palm Drive.
The store will be about 28,000 square feet and will offer students and faculty indoor and outdoor seating areas, bike racks and sidewalks connecting to surrounding residence halls. The store is part of the expansion for on-campus student housing.
The opening date has not been determined, according to Publix. It was originally scheduled to open in late 2017, but construction was delayed to 2018.
