Manatee deputies arrest suspect in sexual battery of 9-year-old girl

Manatee County deputies say they've arrested the man they believe raped a 9-year-old girl.

61-year-old Excellent Jean-Gilles is in custody facing charges of sexual battery.

The attack happened at the girl's home in the Bayshore Gardens area.

Authorities say the victim knew her attacker.

Deputies were concerned he would try to leave the area and return to his home country of Haiti.
