Pet adoption fees waived in Manatee this weekend

If you're thinking about adding a new furry member to your family, now is the time.

Manatee County Animal Services is waiving adoption fees this weekend after reaching critical capacity. With over 300 animals at the shelter facility, they are challenging the community to "Clear the Shelter" on Saturday, September 17.

In addition to the free adoptions, information booths, kids' activities and adoption support volunteers will be set up around the Palmetto facility. Food trucks will be stationed near the adoption center for an outside "food court", where families can picnic with their new furry friends.

All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and rabies certificate. Manatee County residents are required to license their new pet for an additional $15.

You can meet your new four-legged family members at two locations: Manatee County Animal in Palmetto, or the Downtown Adoption Center (cats only) in Bradenton.
