Bradenton Beach officer shoots armed man after disturbance

- A Bradenton Beach police officer opened fire on an armed man following a disturbance Saturday evening.

Police and deputies were called to the area of Gulf Drive and Pine Avenue on Anna Maria Island shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Investigators said officers located a man who was armed with a knife and another bladed weapon. A Bradenton Beach police officer shot the man for unknown reasons.

The man was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition. 

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting. No further details have been released.
