Deadly crash closed NB I-75 in Sarasota County for hours

-  A deadly crash shut down highway lanes in Sarasota County for several hours.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 75 were closed around 5 a.m. following a multi-vehicle crash, according to Florida Highway Patrol . The crash occurred north of the Sarasota-Charlotte county line, and south of Toledo Blade. 

Traffic was diverted off of Kings Highway during that time. Troopers said one person has passed away following the crash. Troopers reopened lanes around noon.

A separate crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-75 in the same area, closing two lanes. Those southbound lanes reopened about two hours later.
