Disney, Publix named 2 of the 'world's most admired companies' by Fortune Magazine

Two businesses that are well-known to Floridians have made Fortune Magazine's list of the world's most admired companies.

Fortune said its 50 "All-Stars" list is determined based on ratings calculated from thousands of executives, directors and securities analysts within each industry. Survey respondents are asked to rate companies on nine criteria, from innovation to social responsibility.

Walt Disney made the no. 4 spot on the list, up two spots from last year's rankings, and came in first in the entertainment industry category.

Disney also recently placed fourth on Forbes' list of the "World's Best Employers" for 2018.

Meanwhile, Publix Supermarkets made its debut in the top 50, coming in at no. 45. The Lakeland-based grocery chain came in second in the food and drug stores industry category.

In addition to making the Top 50 list, Publix has also been named one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For in America for 21 consecutive years.
