Sheriff: Shooter targeted worker at Wesley Chapel construction site

WESLEY CHAPEL (FOX 13) - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says a construction worker was shot, execution-style, while he was on his lunch break in a Wesley Chapel neighborhood.

Deputies say two men walked up and opened fire - and the suspects are still on the run. 

It happened just before 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 28000 block of Marsciano Lane, in the Estancia at Wiregrass community, just north of the Shops at Wiregrass.

The victim, Heans Gianni Alvarez, 46, is being remembered as a man with a good heart who would help anyone. Alvarez's nephew, Gerarde Jimenez said his uncle's death has left his family in shock.

They are trying to figure out what could have led to this.

Sheriff Chris Nocco called his death a "targeted execution."

Alvarez was part of a tile crew working at a home under construction. Due to ongoing construction, the front gate of the community was left open.

Around 12:40, the crew took a break. While they were sitting in the garage of the home, a witness said two men came in and walked directly toward Alvarez.

One of the men tapped him on the leg and shot him on the spot, without saying a word.

The other workers ran and the suspects fled. They were both described as light-skinned black males who were driving a dark-colored sedan. The men were described as between about 5-foot-three to five-foot-eight with short, braided hair.

Deputies are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
