Man in custody after early morning shooting in Spring Hill

2 people are in the hospital and a suspect is in custody after an early morning shooting in Hernando County.

According to Sheriff Al Nienhuis, deputies responded to the incident just before 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning outside of the Delirium bar in Spring Hill.

Sheriff’s Deputies were able to identity a suspect and made an arrest around 11:30 a.m. That suspect has not yet been identified.

Sheriff Nienhuis says preliminary information shows the shooting was a result of a fight.

“Our suspect was interacting with a young lady, and she was not happy about it,” according to the Sheriff. “Our victim stepped in to defend her honor and in the process, a scuffle ensued, shots were fired, and we ended up with 2 victims.

The Sheriff says both of the victims are expected to live.
