Bond set for man who shot father of teen he was trying to visit

A $100,000 bond has been set for a Pasco County man accused of shooting a man after he wouldn't let him see his teen daughter.

Investigators say 24-year-old Johnaton Ramdath came to a home on Huron Street in Zephyrhills around 12:30 a.m. Saturday to visit a teenage girl who lives at the home.

The girl's father told Ramdath to leave. Instead, deputies say, Ramdath told the girl's father he would kill him and then shot him in the thigh.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, was flown to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Tampa as a trauma alert.

Ramdath, of Dade City, was identified based on information provided by witnesses. He apparently called Pasco County dispatchers to talk about the incident. He was then located and taken into custody.

Ramdath told detectives he did not mean to shoot the man but was shooting at the ground.

The firearm was located and placed into evidence. The suspect was arrested for attempted murder and booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.
