Several wayward manatees had to be rescued after getting caught in floodwaters from the rains of Hurricane Hermine in Crystal River.

A mother and a baby manatee found themselves in normally inaccessible waters because of the high storm surge and became stranded when the water receded.

Volunteers and staff with the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex helped rescue the mother and calf and relocate them to a nearby canal.

Photos posted show the manatee stuck up against some bars in a drain.

Patricia LaFountain also spotted two manatees stuck in a ditch in Crystal River. She said she has also reached to rescuers to let them know they were there.

There was no immediate word on whether or not they've been relocated.
