Minor injury after Amtrak train hits truck

- An Amtrak train struck a truck this afternoon, delaying the train and blocking vehicle traffic.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says the train hit a box truck near the intersection of Tampa East Boulevard and East Broadway Avenue.

There were 200 people on the Amtrak train, but no injuries.  The driver of the truck, though, suffered minor injuries.

Broadway Avenue remained open for traffic, but Tampa East Boulevard was expected to be closed for several hours.
