Mourners upset after mother shows up at vigil for boy left in hot car

- Members of the Spring Hill community gathered Sunday evening at a vigil for 9-month-old Keyton O'Callaghan who died after being left in a hot car by his mother, according to investigators.

More than a dozen people gathered at a makeshift memorial with signs, music, and stuffed animals to honor the life of baby Keyton. The vigil was calm until Keyton's mother, Cami Lee Moyer, showed up.

Members of the group were visibly agitated, they expressed their desire to see Moyer face charges.

"It's infuriating to see," said one of the many who came to the vigil.

Moyer, speaking to the media for the first time, says there is much more to this story than the public knows.

"May God be with them," a visibly upset Moyer said. "I don't know what else to say to them, they don't know the whole story. They don't know the truth. I am a good person."

Moyer admits to leaving her son in the hot car. The boy's father made a desperate attempt to save him using CPR nearly two weeks ago

Deputies still haven't released what the mother was doing or how long the boy was in the car for, information Moyer wasn't willing to share either.

"It wasn't all night, I'll tell you that much," she told our reporter.

While those who attended the vigil wait for the results of the investigation, they are already trying to come up with ways to make sure a tragedy like this does not happen again. A tragedy that happens too often, according to experts

"We've already contacted the House of Representatives to try and get stricter laws enforced," explained Angela Galluzzo.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is still investigating this incident. No charges have been filed.
