Pedestrian dies in Longboat Key accident

- A pedestrian died following a traffic crash in Longboat Key.

The crash occurred early Tuesday morning, where a person was struck by two cars in the north end of the Key’s bridge around the 7000 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive. Longboat Key Police Chief Peter Cumming said it was dark outside when the crash happened.

Longboat Key bridge was shut down for about five hours, but has since reopened. No other information was provided, including the cause of the crash or the victim's identity.
