Street light installed after student's death

It's a bittersweet victory for a neighborhood in south Lakeland.  Polk County just installed a traffic light on a stretch of Clubhouse Road.

Neighbors have been in an uproar over the street because they say it's unsafe.  Their anger reached a boiling point when Kalen Kirk was hit and killed while crossing the road on his way to the school bus stop early one morning.

Residents say this is only a first step.  They want additional lights put in along Clubhouse, a pedestrian crossing, and other safety measures added.

Kalen's parents issued a statement today saying, "don't let money be the overriding factor in doing the right thing to help protect our most vital assets, our youth."
