A trail at Circle B Bar Reserve has closed after an alligator nest was found.

Last month, a portion of the Marsh Rabbit Run Trail was closed for alligator nesting season. After the nest was found, officials have closed the entire length of the trail until further notice.

Wildlife officials say alligators can become territorial and protective of their nests during this time of the year. A portion of Alligator Alley Trail also remains close as a precaution.

The Lakeland park is probably best known for 'Humpback,' an alligator that is at least 12 feet long, and seen in multiple viral videos strolling alongside Lake Hancock. Baby gators have also been spotted in the marshes earlier this year.
