Woman injured by molding from historic Floridan

TAMPA - A woman is recovering after a piece of an historic downtown building fell and hit her.

Pamela Papasov said she was standing outside the Floridan Hotel when something big and heavy fell from above.

The owner of the hotel confirmed to Fox 13 that it was a piece of the decorative molding from the 20th floor. "I'm in a lot of pain and the road to recovery is going to be a little bit long," said Papasov, "but I'm here."

Papasov said the largest chunk barely missed her, but smaller pieces did hit her, and caused painful injuries. She was hospitalized for two days.Inspectors with the City of Tampa's code enforcement team are expected to assess the hotel next week.

Papasov said it will take time to recover both physically and emotionally, "it's just extremely painful."
