St. Petersburg woman fatally shot after orchestra practice

- A St. Petersburg woman was fatally shot after orchestra practice in Pinellas Park late Monday night, police say.

Police say 59-year-old Caroline Morton-Hicks was attending a practice session with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, located at 4951 78th Avenue North, just before 10 p.m.

After leaving practice, police say she was involved in an altercation in a parking lot between the center and City Hall with an unknown person or people before she ran and was shot in the 5100 block of 78th Avenue.

Morton-Hicks passed away, according to Pinellas Park police. They have not announced a suspect identity, or whether any arrests have been made, but they do say there is no threat to the public.

No other information has been provided.
