Kindergartners' birthday surprise for their school janitor is magical

It was a beautiful surprise for the janitor of a Tennessee elementary school who was celebrating his 60th birthday.

The kindergarten classes of Mrs. Allyssa Hartsfield and Mrs. Amy Hersman at Hickerson Elementary School in Tullahoma learned how to sign the Happy Birthday song.

The students learned the song with the help of a teacher's aide, Shelly Lucas, and the school nurse, Angela Ridner.

When Mr. James, who is hearing impaired, came into the class, the students began to sign Happy Birthday to him, and he was so surprised and delighted he excitedly threw his arms up over his head and became emotional.

According to the school, James Anthony has been with Coffee County Schools since 1991 and has been a part of the Hickerson Elementary School family for 15 years.
