Millennial Thanksgiving: Edible glitter turkey

It's something we didn't know we needed, but we now realize Glitter Turkey is what's been missing from the Thanksgiving table.

The folks at Reynolds Wrap came up with this method, which requires a few extra ingredients than your typical Thanksgiving bird.

The method is akin to creating a dry rub, but this one is blinged-out.

You'll need:

- 1 teaspoon of Gum-Tex Tylose powder

- 4 tablespoons of boiling water

- 1 bottle of liquid pearl sheen or pearl dust

- Food coloring

Wilton makes Gum-Tex Tylose powder, liquid food coloring and pearl dust, all of which are available at most craft stores.

Tip: Before you get started, you may want to pour yourself a glass of this bubbly, pear-thyme cocktail or cranberry apple sangria.

Directions:

Mix 1 teaspoon of Gum-Tex powder with 4 tablespoons of boiling water (added 1 tbsp. at a time) and food coloring.

Mix Gum-Tex powder, boiling water and food coloring thoroughly with a rubber or silicone spatula until you get a paste-like consistency, approximately three to five minutes.

Spread mixture out into a thin layer on a foil-lined baking sheet.

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 275°F for about 30 minutes, or until the mixture is completely dry and hard.

Once it's cool, break up into pieces and place into a clean coffee grinder or food processor. Pulse until pieces are ground.

Place a sieve over a bowl and pour the mixture into the sieve. Shake the sieve to separate the smaller pieces from the larger pieces. Place larger pieces back into the grinder.

Repeat until you have enough to completely cover your turkey. You’ll need approximately 12 to 16 individually baked batches to fully cover a 16-pound turkey.
