Hit-and-run crash kills woman on motorized scooter

A pedestrian was injured and the female driver of a motorized scooter was killed Wednesday night after a series of crashes and possibly two hit-and-run drivers.

Tampa police are now asking the public for information about one, possibly two drivers who hit the woman after she hit a pedestrian with her scooter.

It happened just before 9 Wednesday night on Nebraska Avenue near E 112th Ave. The driver of the scooter hit a pedestrian and was thrown from her vehicle.

One or two vehicles then ran her over, but they did not stop to help.

The 33-year-old died from her injuries.

The pedestrian had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Tampa police are searching for the driver or drivers who hit the woman. Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477) or report anonymously at www.crimestopperstb.com. A cash reward may also be available.
