Three killed in fiery crash in Winter Haven

- Authorities in Polk County are investigating a crash that left three people dead early Saturday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the crash near Spirit Lake Road and Sheffield Road around 3:30 a.m.

Investigators said the vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire. When first responders arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Three occupants in the vehicle were pronounced deceased. They haven’t been identified.

Deputies have closed the intersection during the investigation. Drivers should avoid the area.
