Arrest made in Plant City hit-and-run crash, suspect facing multiple charges

The Plant City Police Department has arrested the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Sunday morning, according to authorities.

The crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. at the 4000 block of Airport Rd.

Police say they received a call that a person had been found lying on the side of the road.

Plant City Fire Rescue responded and found a white male with injuries who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators were able to determine what type of vehicle was involved from the debris they found.

Police say they then searched the area and found a vehicle with damage consistent with debris at the scene.

Through an interview with the car's owner, Miguel Rodriguez Jr., police learned he was the last person to use the vehicle. 

According to police, Rodriguez Jr. was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and driving while license suspended involving death or serious bodily injury. 

Rodriguez Jr. has bonded out of jail, police said.
