A carjacking suspect was arrested soon after he stole a taxi, police say.

Clearwater police responded to the incident Monday around 7:40 a.m. They say they received a call from a United Cab driver who stated he was robbed of his cash and taxi at knifepoint near Crest Lake Park.

Police say the suspect, 38-year-old Samuel Eric Brown, abandoned the taxi just west of the crime scene near Highland Avenue and DeLeon Street. An officer was traveling on Highland Avenue and spotted the suspect.

Brown was arrested and charged with armed robbery and carjacking. The taxi driver was not injured, police say.
