Residents of a Clearwater condominium community had a scary wake-up call after a fire broke out.

Early Tuesday, units with Clearwater Fire Rescue arrived at the Imperial Cove Condos located at 19029 U.S. Highway 19 North. The residences are a community for those who are at least 55 years old.

Firefighters went door-to-door waking up and evacuating residents inside one building shortly after 3 a.m. The fire was under control quickly. Most of the damage is on the roof of one condo building, which has four floors and about eight units per floor.

Four units were impacted, according to Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers. No residents were injured, fire officials said, but three firefighters had smoke inhalation. The cause remains under investigation.
