Baby girl nearly breaks record for her length
A Pasco County family is welcoming home a baby girl who is already drawing attention for her remarkable size. FOX 13's Blake DeVine reports.
LAND O' LAKES, Fla. - A Pasco County family is welcoming home a baby girl who is already drawing attention for her remarkable size.
By the numbers:
Lucy Nonnenberg measured 23 inches long at birth while weighing 9 pounds, 13.3 ounces. She was born on March 26 at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital in Pasco County.

Inside her home in Land O’ Lakes, Shelby Nonnenberg is enjoying quality time with her newborn daughter.
"My sweet little Lucy," Nonnenberg said. "Little being a loose term, that’s for sure."
Dig deeper:
The baby’s considerable size comes with a big appetite, as her mother says she’s drinking milk every two hours.
"The average newborn doesn’t eat that much at all," Nonnenberg said. "She is knocking it back."
Nonnenberg says her doctor, Reut Bardach, an OB-GYN at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, was blown away by the baby’s length.
What they're saying:
"My doctor said this was the longest baby she’s ever delivered in her 17-year career," Nonnenberg said. "Doctor Bardach said, ‘Wow, what a giant.’"
Lucy was delivered by C-section and returned home with her parents just two days later. Her father, Rick Nonnenberg, says she’s already skipped past newborn clothing sizes.
"We had newborn clothes, and we had zero to three-month-old clothes that we brought with us to the hospital," Rick Nonnenberg said. "None of those fit either. So, she’s in the three-to-six-month category."
At home, Lucy is already making an impression on her 2-year-old brother, Warren.
Only five days old, Rick had already noticed her growth.
"Every day, they’re slowly coming down more and more," Rick said. "So, she’s getting taller and taller, it seems."
What's next:
Despite the attention surrounding her baby’s size, Shelby is focusing on her daughter’s future.
"Whatever she wants to be when she grows up, I’ll be there to support her," Shelby concluded. "With whatever she decides to do."
A spokeswoman for HCA Florida Trinity Hospital told FOX 13 they're actively reviewing records to see how Lucy’s measurements stack up.
