A popular nut butter sold exclusively at Walmart nationwide is being recalled over potential Salmonella contamination.
Botticelli Foods issued a voluntary recall of one lot of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter after routine testing revealed the "presence of Salmonella" in the product, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

What we know:
According to the recall notice, three jars were found to contain Salmonella in a routine inventory inspection at a Walmart location by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Federal regulators then notified Walmart of the possible contamination on July 17.

The impacted product (lot LB028ACP04) was distributed to Walmart stores in 19 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections if it is consumed, particularly in young children, older adults, the frail and people with weaker immune systems. Symptoms can include fevers, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and in some cases it can enter the bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses.
