TALLAHASSEE (FOX 13) - A $25 Florida Lottery scratch-off game made a St. Pete woman $1 million richer Monday.
The lottery said Phyllis Turner, 57, claimed the prize after playing the $10,000,000 Florida Cash scratch-off game.
She bought the winning ticket from Gulfport Mini Mart at 1615 58th Street South in Gulfport. The store will get a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning game ticket.
The lottery said Tuner chose a one-time, lump sum payment of $775,918.80.
Meanwhile, a bill limiting the number and price of Florida Lottery scratch-off games was being considered by the Government Operations Appropriations Subcommittee after passing subcommittee in early February.
The bill, presented by Sen. Tom Lee, R-Brandon would limit the number of scratch-off games sold by the lottery to a total of 20, with a maximum cost of $10 each. Currently, the Florida Lottery offers about 60 scratch-off games with the highest priced at $25.
The bill would still need to pass through the State Affairs Committee before being presented for a vote.
The lottery said the game launched in February 2015 and has more than 11 million winning tickets and more than $624 million in total cash prizes. The game's overall odds of winning are one-in-2.88.
