Breaking: Trump says US will hold off on Iran strikes
On Saturday, President Donald Trump made a social media post saying that Middle East allies had reached the framework of a deal to end the war with Iran, adding that the U.S. would hold off on launching new strikes.
President Donald Trump says he will halt new strikes against Iran for now, citing a reported deal in the works to end the five-month war.
Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post Saturday night.

What they're saying:
An official involved in the peace talks told The Associated Press that the deal calls for reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and halting attacks across the region, including by Iranian-backed militias in Iraq on the Arab Gulf countries and Jordan.
The U.S., in exchange, would end its naval blockade on Iran and allow the country to export its oil.
No deal has been reached yet.

"The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II," Trump wrote. "Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to.
"Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL," Trump said.

Iran’s defense minister said on X that the country was "neither surprised nor passive" after Trump’s announcement and said Iran continues to remain alert in the face of concrete threats from the U.S.

It’s not the first time Trump has threatened to annihilate Iran since the U.S. and Israel attacked the country on Feb. 28, only to halt the strikes at the last minute. He has also announced previous peace deals, only for things to unravel and fighting to resume again.

In his social media post Saturday, Trump said Israel is joining his commitment to end the war by implementing the ceasefire deal. Israel did not publicly comment on the announcement.
